Is LineBy the same as NYT's Letter Boxed or Letterboxd?
No. LineBy by 0n1 Studios — formerly called Letterbox — is a tile-swap quote puzzle for iPhone: a famous quote is scrambled into tiles, and you swap letters to restore it. The New York Times' Letter Boxed is a different game about linking letters around a square, and Letterboxd is a film review social network. Similar names, very different things.

What kind of word puzzle is LineBy?
LineBy is a tile swap. Every letter of the quote is already face-up on the board, just in the wrong seat, and you trade two at a time until each one locks into place — so you can always see how close you are. That's one of five common quote-puzzle formats, alongside the cryptogram, the drop quote (quotefall), the word scramble and the letter scramble.
